LISS Cardio

LISS stands for “low-intensity steady state” — endurance work at a steady, low intensity over a longer period.

Why it matters

LISS cardio (e.g. brisk walking, easy cycling) taxes the cardiovascular system gently, combines well with strength training and is easy to recover from even during a diet. It’s a practical way to raise daily expenditure without eating into recovery.

LISS isn’t inherently better or worse than HIIT — both have their place. The right choice depends on goal, time, recovery and preference.

Calorie figures for LISS sessions are rough estimates. It’s more reliable to treat LISS as an everyday activity tool than as an exact burn formula.

During a diet LISS complements everyday movement without undermining the recovery of your strength work the way hard endurance work can.
