Body Recomposition

Body recomposition describes simultaneous muscle gain and fat loss — with body weight staying roughly stable.

Why it matters

Simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain can occur, but it is not equally likely or equally fast for everyone. Training status, starting body composition, energy intake, protein and training quality all influence the outcome.

Recomposition may be more likely when adaptation potential is high, such as in beginners or after a long training break. That is a tendency, not a guarantee.

Large simultaneous changes can become harder in highly trained people. That does not create a universal requirement to use clearly separated bulk and cut phases.

Do not judge recomposition from scale weight alone. Performance, measurements and longer-term body-composition estimates add useful context.
