Ringspun Cotton

Ringspun cotton refers to cotton yarn produced with ring spinning; the term describes the yarn-production method rather than the quality of the finished garment by itself.

Why it matters

Ring spinning can produce fine, even yarns and influences hand feel and surface appearance. Fibre quality, yarn count, knit construction and finishing also shape the result.

Ring spinning and open-end spinning are different yarn-production systems with different characteristics and cost structures. Ringspun alone is not a durability or premium certification.

Softness, smoothness and durability of a finished fabric cannot be inferred from yarn system and GSM alone.

A useful assessment considers yarn, fabric construction, garment workmanship and intended use together.
