Heavyweight Cotton
Heavyweight cotton is an informal market label for comparatively heavy cotton fabrics; there is no universally binding GSM threshold for the term.
Why it matters
Higher fabric weight can change drape, structure and hand feel. Garment durability and dimensional stability also depend on yarn, knit, finishing, seams and care.
For t-shirts, heavyweight is often used for fabrics around or above roughly 200 gsm. That is a market convention rather than a technical quality standard.
More material per area can affect cost and wearing feel, but it does not reliably predict how many washes a garment will withstand.
