OEKO-TEX (general)
OEKO-TEX is an international testing label that checks textiles for substances harmful to health.
Why it matters
The best-known label is “STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®” — it tests finished products against limit values for hundreds of chemicals. It says nothing about environmental footprint, fair labor, or material quality — only chemical purity.
A label like OEKO-TEX is always product-specific: it applies to the tested item, not the brand as a whole.
Important: even if a brand uses certified fabrics on some products, it may not label its entire lineup as “OEKO-TEX certified”. This glossary explains the label in general terms — it is not claimed as an attribute of any specific product.
