What the categories mean

The categories help you understand exercises at a glance. They are not a ranking and do not mean one variation is automatically better for everyone.

Classic exercises

Well-known standard movements that have been used in strength and fitness training for years. They often provide a straightforward base for a muscle or movement pattern.

Isolation exercises

Exercises with a deliberately narrower focus on one muscle or muscle group. Other muscles still contribute, in practice, a muscle is rarely working in complete isolation.

Bodybuilding Classics

Old-school and traditional movements from different bodybuilding eras. They are included as additional training options, not because they are automatically better or safer.
